Impressions of Bleialf
The history of Bleialf.
The first documented mention was in 893 in the Prüm Urbar. Bleialf is a local community in the middle of the Schnee-Eifel in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate.
It belongs to the Prüm association of municipalities.
Numerous finds have been made in the Bleialf area, which clearly indicate the presence of the Romans as early as the first centuries after the birth of Christ. The history of Bleialf begins shortly after the history of Prüm Abbey and is closely linked to it over many centuries. Without a doubt, the Bleialf (Alve) estate had a special status and significance within the Prüm Abbey during this period.
It later became the centre for the management of the Prüm ban forest, which Bertrada von Mürlenbach donated to the Prüm monastery in 721.
Bleialf was first mentioned in a document in the Prüm Urbar in 893, and thus looked back on 1100 years of existence in 1993.
In the Prüm Urbar, Bleialf is referred to as ‘Alve’ and “Alue”. It was not until 1584 that the current name ‘Bleialf’ was first mentioned in a document.
